In-mold labeling (IML)

No label. The print is part of the tube.

With IML, your artwork is printed on a thin film that goes into the mold, and the tube forms around it. The design becomes part of the pop-top itself, so there's nothing to apply, peel or scuff.

Why IML

A better-looking tube, with less work

IML is a simple upgrade for pop-top tubes you reorder: the branding is built in, so every tube looks the same and stays that way.

  • No label needed

Your design is molded into the tube, so there's no sticker to line up, bubble or peel.

  • Holds up

The print is part of the tube wall, so it stands up to pockets, bags and shelves better than a stuck-on label.

  • Art all the way around

Photos, gradients and fine lines wrap the tube, not just a label-sized patch on the front.

  • Your choice of finish

Choose matte, gloss or metallic foil to match the rest of your packaging.

  • One less step

Tubes show up already printed, so nobody on your team is hand-applying labels.

How it works

Three steps to a printed tube

  1. 01

Pick your size and send art

Choose a pop-top tube or dram size and send your artwork. We set it up to fit that part.

  2. 02

    Approve the proof

We send a proof of the wrap so you can check placement, colors and finish before anything is made.

  3. 03

    Molded with your design inside

The printed film goes into the mold and the tube forms around it. Your tubes arrive ready to fill.

FAQ

IML questions

Want to talk it through? Call 888.909.9402.

What is in-mold labeling (IML)?

IML is a way of decorating plastic packaging during molding. Your artwork is printed on a thin film, the film goes into the mold, and the plastic forms around it, so the design becomes part of the container instead of a label stuck on afterward.

Do IML pop-top tubes need a label?

No. The design is already in the tube. You can still add a small sticker for batch or compliance details that change from run to run.

Is IML better than a sticker label?

For a branded tube you'll reorder, usually yes: it looks cleaner, wraps all the way around and won't peel or scuff the way a label can. Labels still make sense when artwork changes often or for small test runs.

What finishes are available with IML?

Matte, gloss and metallic foil. Tell us the look you're after and we'll recommend one.

Which products can be IML printed?

Our pop-top tubes, from the 78mm mini tube to the 116mm king-size and wide 116mm tubes, and our dram containers. Ask us about other plastic parts.

How do I get pricing for IML tubes?

Request a quote with the size, quantity and your artwork (or a rough idea). IML pricing depends on the part, the number of designs and the run size, so we quote each project.
