Flower packaging

The short answer

Flower packaging is chosen by weight: 1 g usually goes in a 1 oz jar or a small pouch; an eighth (3.5 g) in a 3 oz or 4 oz jar (a 2 oz jar for compact flower), a 19–30 dram jar or a 3.6 × 5.8 in mylar bag; a quarter (7 g) in a 6 oz slim jar or a 5 oz jar, or a 4 × 7 in bag; a half ounce (14 g) in a 10 oz jar or a 5 × 8.8 in bag; and an ounce most often in a 6 × 9.8 in mylar bag. These are rough guides; the exact fit depends on your flower and how full you want it.

FAQ

Flower packaging questions

What size mylar bag do I need for an eighth, quarter, half or ounce?

Child-resistant stand-up bags: 3.6 × 5.8 in for 3.5 g, 4 × 7 in for 7 g, 5 × 8.8 in for 14 g and 6 × 9.8 in for 28 g, or a wide 8 × 6 in ounce bag. Tear-notch bags without a CR zipper run slightly shorter: 3.6 × 5 in, 4 × 6.5 in and 5 × 8.1 in.

What size jar fits an eighth (3.5 g) of flower?

The 3 oz slim jar or the 4 oz wide jar are the go-to picks for 3.5 g. Go with the 2 oz wide jar for dense flower, or the 4 oz slim jar if you want extra room. A 19–30 dram plastic jar works too. Test a sample with your flower to be sure.

Should I use glass jars or mylar bags for flower?

Glass jars are sturdy, reusable and show off the flower. Mylar bags are lighter, cost less to ship and are the usual choice for larger weights such as an ounce.

How many jars come in a case?

It depends on the jar, so the case pack is confirmed on your quote. Every jar page lists the jar and lid dimensions and weights to help you plan storage and freight.
