The child-resistant end

A can your customer can close again.

Every sleek and standard can takes our resealable child-resistant end, often called a CRC end. Your customer opens the drink, closes it again and saves the rest for later.

  • Fits every can with a standard 202 lid
  • Reseals after opening
  • For the 250 ml slim can, use child-resistant outer packaging

Inside the can

BPA-NI Gen 2 liners, made simple

Every Vibe can comes with a BPA-NI Gen 2 liner. Here's what that means, and why it matters for a cannabis drink.

  • What a liner is

Every aluminum can has a thin coating inside that keeps your drink from touching the metal.

  • What BPA-NI means

BPA non-intent: the coating is made without adding BPA.

  • Why Gen 2

It's the newer version of that liner, made to perform like the older linings it replaced. It's the one cannabis drink brands ask for.

Why it matters for THC drinks: THC is oily, and over time some of it can cling to the inside of a can, which lowers the drink's strength. A good liner helps, and testing your drink in the can before your first run tells you for sure.

Before your first run

Three checks before you can

Cans are simple once they're right. These steps keep your first run from being a test.

  1. 01

    Lab test your drink

Your drink is tested in the can to make sure nothing reacts with the aluminum and the THC holds its strength over time.

  2. 02

    Run a line trial

Cans and ends run on your canning line, and through your pasteurizer if you use one, before the full run.

  3. 03

    Approve your proof

Our in-house designer sets up your sleeve, print or label and sends a proof for you to approve.

Buying guide

How to choose beverage cans

  1. 01

    Pick a shape

Sleek cans are tall and slim, standard cans are the classic soda can, and the slim can is the narrowest. Most THC seltzers use the 12 oz sleek.

  2. 02

    Pick a size

7.5 to 8.4 oz for smaller servings, 12 oz for most drinks, 16 and 19.2 oz for big drinks. Check your state's limit on THC per container.

  3. 03

    Add the child-resistant end

Every sleek and standard can takes our resealable child-resistant end. The 250 ml slim can needs child-resistant outer packaging instead.

  4. 04

    Choose how it's decorated

A full shrink sleeve, digital print right on the can, or a label on a plain can. Then test your drink in the can before your first run.

FAQ

Beverage Cans questions

Still deciding? Call 888.909.9402.

What custom cannabis beverage cans does Vibe Packaging supply?

Custom aluminum cans for cannabis drinks: sleek, standard and slim cans from 7.5 oz to 19.2 oz, with a resealable child-resistant end, shrink sleeves or digital print.

How is pricing set for beverage cans?

By quote. Price breaks depend on the product, decoration and where it's produced, so it's worth asking for more than one quantity on your quote.

Can beverage cans be custom printed?

Yes. Options include shrink sleeve: gloss, matte or soft-touch matte, digital print on the can, plain silver, white or black, printed labels, resealable child-resistant end and more, applied to your artwork.

What size can is best for a cannabis drink?

Most THC seltzers and sodas use the 12 oz sleek can. The 12 oz standard is the classic soda can, 7.5 to 8.4 oz cans suit smaller servings, and 16 and 19.2 oz cans suit bigger drinks. Check your state's limit on THC per container before picking a bigger can.

Are your cannabis drink cans child-resistant?

Every sleek and standard can we offer takes our resealable child-resistant end, often called a CRC end, which fits the standard 202 lid. Your customer can open it, close it again and save the rest. The 250 ml slim can uses a smaller 200 lid, so it needs child-resistant outer packaging instead.

What's the difference between slim, sleek and standard cans?

They're different widths. Standard cans are the classic soda can (211 body). Sleek cans are taller and narrower (204 body) and use the same 202 lid as standard cans. Slim cans are the narrowest (202 body) and use a smaller 200 lid. The numbers are the can's width in inches and sixteenths, so 211 means 2 and 11/16 inches.

Shrink sleeve, digital print or a label: which should I pick?

A shrink sleeve wraps the whole can from top to bottom in gloss, matte or soft-touch matte, with tactile finishes for an added cost. Digital print puts your design right on the aluminum. A label on a plain silver, white or black can is the simplest option and handy when you have lots of flavors. We'll help you compare cost and look for your quantity.

Do I need to test my cannabis drink in the can?

Yes, before your first full run. Every drink should be lab tested with the can's liner to make sure nothing in it reacts with the aluminum, and the cans and ends should be run on your canning line, and through your pasteurizer if you use one. We'll walk you through it.

Are your cans BPA-free?

Yes. Our cans come with a BPA-NI Gen 2 liner, which means no BPA is added to the coating inside the can.

What is a BPA-NI Gen 2 can liner?

Every aluminum can has a thin coating inside, called a liner, that keeps the drink from touching the metal. BPA-NI means BPA non-intent: the liner is made without adding BPA. Gen 2 is the newer version of that liner, made to perform like the older linings it replaced. It's the liner cannabis drink brands ask for, and it's what our cans come with.

Does THC stick to the inside of a can?

It can. THC and other cannabinoids are oily, and over time some can cling to the can's liner, which lowers the potency of the drink. How much depends on your recipe and the liner. That's why we recommend a modern BPA-NI Gen 2 liner and a potency test of your drink in the can, over time, before your first full run.

Do you make cans for hemp-derived THC drinks?

Yes. We make cans for cannabis and hemp-derived THC drinks, CBD drinks and other functional drinks. Rules for labels and child-resistant packaging differ by state, so tell us where you sell.
